The short answer. YES. The reasons behind wearing a turban can differ, but the style is open to any and everyone! Some people wear a turban or head wrap (head cover) for religious reasons. There are also some people that wear a turban, or turban style head cover to lock in moisture and keep their hair from drying out, or to protect their style. You also have people that wear a turban to conceal hair loss from alopecia or hair loss from their cancer treatment. Finally there are people that choose to wear a turban as a fashion accessory!
You should never assume you know the reason behind headwear. Do NOT assume that everyone with a head wrap has experienced hair loss, or has cancer, or that they are wearing it for religious reasons. The best thing that you can do, is take a moment and COMPLIMENT that person on their headwear. Instead of feeling the need to “get underneath the reasons for the turban” simply appreciating it, complimenting, and moving on with your day is the best option.
Contrary to popular public belief, we don’t deserve an explanation or reasoning for why other people do. dress, or act the way that they do. We can live completely full lives without prying into the details of others. So the next time you see someone rocking a fearless turban style, smile, appreciate it, compliment them (if you want to really spread the love) and move on with your day.
stay fearless, and spread the love,
Allison
